Originally built as a Publick House, this 1815 Federal-style building became the site of the first Confederate stand and hospital during the Civil War. Listed in the National Register, the inn's 19th-century heritage and glory has now been faithfully restored, and a new wing added. Enjoy a wonderful country breakfast in the restaurant, as well as afternoon tea and snacks. Stroll the landscaped grounds amidst two watergarden ponds. Banquet and meeting facilities are also located on the premises. Enjoy a French influenced menu in the five dining areas as well as the lounge. The Herr Tavern Restaurant is open from 11AM to 9PM, Monday through Saturday, and from 5PM to 9PM on Sunday. Reservations are recommended. The original mainhouse features five dining areas that accommodate twenty to thirty-five guests in each room.
