| Conveniently located between the village of Stowe and the world
class skiing of the Stowe Mountain Resort, The Gables is a Vermont
country inn in the truest sense of the words.
The main building, built as a farmhouse in 1856, is a Stowe landmark
which has been welcoming guests since the 1930’s. Here you will
find twelve traditional inn rooms, from homey and cozy to large and
luxurious; each with its own distinctive look and feel. All inn rooms
have private baths, locally made quilts and period antiques.
However, if you’re looking to combine the ambiance of the inn with added
privacy afforded by an annex, you might prefer one of the four
large rooms in our Carriage House or one of the truly huge
Riverview Suites. These rooms have private baths, cable TV,
fireplaces and whirlpool tubs. In addition to these extras, the
Riverview’s also have a microwave, refrigerator, VCR and private
porch with views of Mt. Mansfield -- the feel of the country with the
extras you’ve come to expect. Whatever choice you make, you'll be
assured of a warm welcome and a comfortable stay.
Did you know that breakfast at the Gables is a tradition in Stowe? Choose from over 20
items ranging from bagels and lox, to eggs benedict or our famous
three egg omelets. Our breakfast menu does have something for
everyone. During the summer months, the front lawn is filled with
our trademark yellow umbrellas, and breakfast outside might be
what you choose. From June thru September, weather permitting,
you can also enjoy a delicious
lunch under the umbrellas. During autumn and winter, The Gables
becomes one of Stowe’s premier dinner destinations; a candlelit
dining room, New American Cuisine and a wonderful wine list are
yours to enjoy without ever leaving the inn.
Located throughout the property you’ll find a swimming pool amidst
thegardens, an outdoor hot tub and welcoming common areas filled
with magazines, board games and perhaps some interesting
