Rated 5.0: Delicious breakfasts, warm hospitality, lovely rooms, just wonderful! Chuck and Tom are the greatest hosts. Couldn't ask for a more romantic and wonderful getaway. Can't wait to return. We give them a 5-star (plus) rating!

Rated 5.0: We love this place! The Hales knock themselves out to do everything they can to provide a great experience. Cathy, their secretary, had a whole table full of things to do, places to go, things to see. We had a bunch of rain this past weekend, but in spite of the rain we could see the incredible gardens - roses, azaleas, rhodadendrons, peonies and all the annuals Tom plants with much TLC. Chuck's breakfasts were the best we've had. The Pillars has a great team with everyone doin' their darndest to make you feel welcome and to have a good time while you're staying there.

Rated 5.0: We arrived frazzled and very tired. Chuck and Tom's cheery greeting helped us over the hump. A glass of wine helped, too. The house was "trimmed to the nines" (by Tom, they said)for Christmas, and Tom built a fire for us in the Reception Room. We snacked on the way and were just too tired to go out, so we settled in by the fire, munched on Chuck's homemade cookies and had some sherry while the fire burned down. The next morning "Mac" (their Cairn Terrier) was waiting by our door to have his belly rubbed - a mutually-agreeable exercise we discovered the night before. As soon as we poked our heads out the door the aromas of yeast bread, coffee and bacon came charging up the circular staircase - and we were ready for Chuck's bountiful Swedish breakfast - oven-baked French Toast, with a homemade cinnamon cherry sauce - fantastic. We wanted to go hiking and Chuck gave us directions to the nearby Washington Rock State Park. I could go on and on. Suffice it to say, Chuck and Tom (and Mac) are great hosts and run one of the most hospitable B&B's we've ever stayed in. We can recommend it highly.
