Rated 5.0: Lake Chapala Inn looks quite plain in its online photos, but the interior is both gorgeous and homey, with a library full of books and tapes in both English and Spanish. It is like being at home in an elegant Mexican hacienda. There was also a beautiful piano that I was allowed to play. The innkeeper is a charming, kind, gentle and sophsticated lady. Our breakfast was delightful, and other guests were pleasant. Wish I could live there forever! There is no hot tub, but there is a lap pool. Back when Lake Chapala was full, one could sit on the boardwalk in front of the Inn and dangle his legs in the water. It is now about a mile out to the water from the Inn. It's a convenient place for walking to the Braniff restaurant, shopping, etc.
