Helpful advice: Tom's information about the history of the house& all his directions about where to eat & how to get there were great. Hilarious: Deede was so charmingly opinionated. The food is always sooo good as is the conversation and hospitality. We've been going every year for the last 7 years and it always feels like "going home". Our room is always comfortable, clean and inviting. The property is very pretty and just a wonderful place to kick back, relax and stay awhile!!

Rated 5.0: We enjoyed our stay in The Appleview Room at the Baird House so much. The carriage house offered a little more privacy than the main house, but we still were afforded all the hospitality that the other guests received. We really enjoyed watching the deer and rabbits nibble on the apples, going fishing in the Watauga River and eating DeeDe's delicious breakfasts. The Baird House was a wonderful find for my husband and I, and we cannot wait to return to the High Country soon.

Rated 5.0: The Hinsons are great innkeepers for this historic old house. We went there mainly to see a house built by an ancestor of mine and came away having had a wonderful experience. Our room was absolutely charming, the host and hostess were friendly - and the hostess is a great cook! The host provides a wealth of information on the house's history as well as dining information and places to see (and how to get there). The rural location is peaceful and quiet. We enjoyed good conversation with other guests at the bountiful breakfast. We also indulged in Deede's homemade cake and cookies, which are available for snacking. For anyone wanting to unwind and relax, this is a great place to go.

Rated 5.0: I chose The Baird House for several reasons...initially, the website that included great pictures and descriptions of the various rooms...and then, I read something about a hashbrown casserole, cookies that people come from miles around for, and I knew that was the place for me. And, just as I expected, the hashbrown casserole was incredible...if you ask Deede nicely, she'll make if for you. twice in a row..the cookies are also delicious. They serve a great breakfast, and are very sweet folks - very sharing. They have a lovely dog named Gabby, who will follow you around just for a pat on the head. All in all, it was a lovely stay...beautiful country...wonderful folks. Our room was quaint and very nicely appointed. We will definitely be going back. Pam

Rated 5.0: We came to the Baird house to celebrate my husband's 70th birthday, and we were treated like royalty! Deede made suggestions (and the reservations) for restaurants and things to do in the area alomost immediately upon receiving our reservation, and even arranged for a birthday cake to be delivered to the Inn. Tom called us the morning of our arrival to let us know that our room was ready if we wanted to come early, and then met us at the door, showed us around, and declared us officially checked in as he gave us some of Deede's famous peanut butter-oatmeal-chocolate chip cookies. We were quickly spoiled to delicious beakfast served at the dining table every morning at 9:00, and to the conversations with the other guests and our hosts that most assuredly followed. To top it all off, Tom made sure that firewood for our wood burning fireplace was in our room each night. We will definitely be back!

Rated 5.0: I had never been interested in staying at a B&B in the past. Our first stay ever was last year and we returned this year. That is solely due to the superior atmosphere of this B&B. The Hinsons go above and beyond to provide the most comfortable and relaxed environment and allow you to feel at home. Tom & DeeDee make you feel special and a part of their family without hovering over you and their warm personalities can not be matched in any hotel, motel or resort. Typically the weekend ends and you are left with a feeling of overwhelming satisfaction and the graciousness of new friends. The breakfast only leaves you craving more and you look forward to the next stay. The decor, the hospitality, the cleanliness and the serene atmosphere leaves you begging for a quick return trip. I cant imagine staying anywhere else. Thank you Baird House for knowing what makes a HOME!

Rated 5.0: Do you ever feel like you have met somebody and felt like you have known them a life time? Well the innkeepers at the Baird House, Tom and Deede, give you that feeling. Their hospitality and friendliness is far above the norm. The Baird House gives you the feeling of coming back home again. The service is great, that food is excellent and the house is beautiful. A very cozy and historical house tucked away off the beaten path, but close enough to all the fun stuff in Valley Crucis, Boone, Blowing Rock, and Linville. This is our second visit to the Baird house and will not be our last. Thank goodness I don? live there because I would get fat off of Deede? fine cooking. Our first visit, five years ago was great, and was my first experience at a bed and breakfast. In between our visits at the Baird House we have stayed at a few bed and breakfasts, and I have always compared the other place to the Baird House since it has set the standard in bed and breakfasts. Make sure you hit up the cookie jar to get a taste of Deede? homemade cookies. Yummy!!!!

Rated 5.0: Our first visit at the Baird House was our first B&B experience. We were skeptical about whether we would like it or not. It was such a wonderful experience that we have made it an annual event for the last two years and will continue to do so. I can not imagine two people being more perfect hosts than Tom and Deede Hinson at the Baird House.

Rated 4.5: The Baird House is a wonderful place to stay. The breakfast and snack treats are phenomenal. Tom and Deede are truly wonderful Innkeepers. Their conversation and personality are a true blend of what the Baird house is all about. The only recommendation I would leave: It would be nice if they had a couple of their rooms fitted with a King Bed. I think this would be an asset. We have stayed at the Baird House 2 times and will indeed be back.

Rated 5.0: My husband and I spent our first anniversary with the kind folks at the Baird House. I can only say that we hope to spend our next 50 there. From the time that we arrived we were made to feel like we were at home, and that Tom and DeeDee had known us all their life. It was a very comfortable setting and I would highly recommend it to anyone that is looking for a comfortable place to go as a getaway, It has all anyone could ask for - beautifu scenery, wonderful food and homey and welcoming rooms- and lets not forget the neverending cookie jar, that my husband could not seem to stay out of. It was a wonderful and relaxing trip.

Tom and Deede make us feel like family - they are so much fun! Breakfast is truly unbeatable, especially the stuffed french toast, which is my favorite.
